The North Face with Sage Cattabriga-Alosa January 2004 The North Face talks to Sage Cattabriga-Alosa about being part of Teton Gravity Research Films. The North Face: Why is being part of TGR important to you? Sage: TGR is awesome. Not only is TGR a tight group of friends but a huge network of people all over the world. So traveling with TGR is not just normal travel but a truly unique experience, one that would never happen without them. The North Face: What is your favorite moment filming with the crew? Sage: Tough question cause every moment seems like the best ever! But I think that one of my favorite moments filming would be on the peak in Alaska, standing on top of the best run that I have ever had. I was up there for about 40 min before dropping in so I had plenty of time to think about the line and just really soak in the beauty of the mountains and the moment. The North Face: What was your funniest moment filming with the crew? Sage: Hangin' in Ero Land with my friends Matt and Chris Collins while shooting with Matt Herriger and Steve Jones. We spent about three weeks cruisin' around together, so many hilarious things done and said traveling amongst friends. Ero speak, grass skiing, moonlight fondue ski parties, walkman speaker grateful dead concerts, and such... The North Face: What is your favorite run and why? Sage: The best run ever,(so far) has been a run off a zone called the wall in Alaska it was about 2000' vert and deep snow with crazy slough and pillowy features. My favorite run in Alta is a little nugget in the "nest" it starts with some steep trees that ends in a mellow glade then rolls into steep trees with several options of triple lines, fresh take-off-landings in the steep trees on epic snow! So fun! The North Face: What's competition like during filming? Sage: I don't know, there really isn't too much competition during filming when we are out in remote zones, not with each other but in resort, like at Alta it can get pretty stiff. Basically the way to get it done goes like this:
The North Face: What gear couldn't you live without? Sage: I couldn't live without, long underwear, socks, hoodies, puffys, skis, goggles, music, kneepads, friends, snow... The North Face: What you do when you're not on the mountain or traveling for "work"? Sage: When I'm not skiing or doing something to do with skiing, I do all kinds of stuff. Sometimes bike ride, I like to jump on the trampoline, and skateboard, and longboard skate, driving my rc car off big airs, and hanging out with my bros, visiting my family, waiting for the mail, watch it snow... oh wait that has to do with skiing... ugh... yoga, and stretching, listening to music, looking for new music, painting, reading magazines... The North Face: If you weren't skiing you'd be... Sage: I would be doing something, trying not to work 9-5! |
