ALERT:   THE NORTH FACEŽ ENDURANCE CHALLENGE, WASHINGTON, D.C., CANCELLED

Governor Kaine Declares State of Emergency

We have received some additional inquiries concerning the cancellation of this event. When Governor Kaine declared an official state of emergency in anticipation of Tropical Storm Hanna, the event was forced to be cancelled because the required rescue and medical resources were no longer available for support. As you can imagine, we share in your disappointment and wish the best for the community and individuals who may be impacted by this storm.

We regret to announce that The North FaceŽ Endurance Challenge, Washington, D.C. has been cancelled due to the projected effects of Tropical Storm Hanna. After much deliberation with all entities involved with permitting and planning of the race, including Algonkian Regional Park, Great Falls Park, Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group, The National Weather Service and Fairfax/Loudoun County Government Officials, we have determined the storm will create hazardous conditions outside the realm of management. This decision was made in order to preserve the safety of participants, volunteers, event staff, medical personnel, and all other parties involved with this event.

In an effort to applaud runners in their training and preparation efforts, The North FaceŽ will be shipping each participant their racer bag and refunding 50% of their registration fee.*

Please fill out the attached refund request form (Name & Address) and email, mail, or fax it back to Hawkeye Sports & Entertainment. If returning via email, please include "DC Registration Refund" in the subject line. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your check to arrive.
