Course Description
50 Mile
Start to 1777 Aid Station:Main site south on R or 1777E
Left on R 1777
Right on Ski double track
Left on Y (S-BM)
Left on B (Timp-Torne T-T)
Left on R (Ramapo Dunderberg R-D)
The total distance on this portion is 5.3 miles. This section is likely the most difficult section of the course. After a 2 mile warm up, this leg quickly turns vertical. There is an aggressive climb up the Yellow Trail, then a descent before climbing up The Timp Trail. Once you reach the top of the Timp Trail, it’s an easy run to the first Aid Station, 1776.
1777 to Lake Welch Dr. Aid Station:
South on the R 1777 to the B
Right on the B (T-T)
Left on the R (R-D)
Left on the R (Red Cross)
Quick right on the B 1779
Quick left on Y (S-BM)
Right on Pines Road
Left on Palisades staying on the left side of the cones to the police officer
Right across the north bound lanes of the Palisades
The total distance of this portion is 5.2 miles. Runners will set out on the Blue Trail and descend the South side of The Timp Trail. Runners will need to use caution as the last part of the descent is a rock staircase (extreme caution if it is wet). The Red Cross Trail follows this section with a climb over The Pines. Circumnavigate Pingyp Mountain as the descent on the South side is too dangerous. You’ll be following Pines Rd, then a newly marked route along Stillwater Brook which will lead you to the shoulder of the Palisades Parkway. Remain on the shoulder down to the police-assisted crossing and wait for the police to signal you across. Once across Palisades Parkway, runners will hit the Lake Welch Dr. Aid Station.
Lake Welch Dr. to Camp Lanowa:
Continue on Y (S-BM)
You will come to a shared section on the LP and the Y
Then making a left on the Y
Continue straight onto the W (Breakneck Mountain) for a short distance
Right heading into Camp Lanowa
The total distance of this section is 5.2 miles. This leg includes several moderate to hard climbs as you ascend Pound Swamp Mountain, Irish Mountain, Jackie Jones Mountain, then up to Big Hill. This section is mostly single track running. Use caution on the final descent into the Camp Lanowa Aid Station as the trail is extremely steep. This is, also, the separation point for the 50 Mile and Accelerade 50K course.
Camp Lanowa to Woodtown Road:
Back track back out to W
Quick Left on the W
Quick Right on the Y (S-BM)
Continue on Y to the R
Right on the R (Tuxedo Mt Ivy T-MI)
The total distance of this section is 5.7 miles. This leg starts with a climb back up the steep trail to get to the Camp Lanowa Aid Station, followed by another descent down the other side of the ridge. The rest of this section has a lot of very rocky trail and running at full speed will be difficult. There are only a few areas opening up to run at a full pace. There are a few smaller climbs on this section, but no extreme ups or downs.
Woodtown Rd to Italian Village (Grove Road):
Cross Seven Lakes Drive and continue on R (T-MI)
Left on W (White Bar)
Right on W (Kakiat)
Right on B (Blue Disc)
Left on R (T-MI) to Aid Station
The total distance of this section is 5.1 miles. This section is very hilly. Runners will climb up through a saddle past the Dutch Doctor and then enjoy some old jeep trail before turning back into the woods to face two mountain ascents up Dater Mountain, then Pound Mountain. Both are difficult climbs but reveal great views once you’ve made it. You’ll then turn and begin your descent to the Italian Village Aid Station. The final part of this decent is extremely steep.
Italian Village to 106:
North on the Red (R-D)
Fork left on Y (Triangle)
Sharp Left on the B (Victory)
Right on the R (R-D) to Aid Station
The total distance of this section is 6.7 miles. This is the longest segment of the race and has plenty of climbing. Runners will follow the Yellow Triangle Trail all the way up to Parker Cabin Mountain. There is a short, tricky descent down rocks off of the view point followed by more downhill single track and even some old road as you turn onto the Victory Trail. Another climb awaits you at Tom Jones Mountain before you descend to Aid Station 106.
106 to Tiorati:
North across the 106 on the R (R-D)
Right on Y (Dunning)
Right on the B (Long Path) to Lake Askoti
Just to the south of Lake Askoti make a left on the dirt road
This will connect with the Red Cross
Right/merge on the R (Red Cross) to Aid Station
The total distance of this section is 6.0 miles. This is one of our favorite sections. The trails are much friendlier and there are great views from the top of Bald Rocks. Runners will connect back in with the Long Path and pass between Lake Skannatati and Lake Askoti. After crossing over Seven Lakes Drive the course will rejoin the Accelerade 50K route and this leg finishes with some small climbs to the Tiorati Aid Station.
Tiorati Brook to Anthony Wayne Aid Station:
Continue on the R (Red Cross)
Left on Owl Lake Rd
Left on B (1779)
Right on W (Anthony Wayne)
Across bridge to Aid Station
The total distance of this portion is 6.1 miles. This section is perhaps the nicest section of the race. This is a long stretch of trail that is wide, with several stream crossings and passing multiple waterfalls. There is a short climb up the 1779 Trail before descending to the Anthony Wayne Aid Station.
Anthony Wayne to Finish:
Stay on the W to R (Fawn)
Merge with R (Fawn) to the W
Quick left on W
Quick Right on R 1777 W
1777 W to 1777E
Left on 1777E to main site
The total distance of this portion is 3.9 miles. Following a short climb right out of the Aid Station, runners will clear the first ridge and begin the last stretch which is mostly downhill and double wide rocky trail the rest of the way home.

Left on the LP to the southern tip of Lake Askoti
Just to the south of Lake Askoti make a right on the dirt road
This will connect with the Red Cross
Right/merge on the R (Red Cross) to Aid Station
The total distance of this portion is 4.9 miles. This section is fairly easy with the first 3.0 miles running mostly downhill on single track. Runners will then face a 1.9 mile climb on old rocky roads before reaching Torati Brook. The 50 Mile course rejoins the Accelerade 50K during this leg.
Tiorati Brook to Anthony Wayne Aid Station:
Continue on the R (Red Cross)
Left on Owl Lake Rd
Left on B (1779)
Right on W (Anthony Wayne)

Total distance = 30.6 miles
Half Marathon
Start to 1777 Aid Station:Head South on R (1777E)
Left on R (1777)
The total distance of this portion is 3.1 miles. The Half Marathon starts off with rolling terrain and easy trail conditions. There is paved road and double wide jeep trail over the first 2.6 miles. As you head out to the turnaround, you will be able to see Bald Mountain on your left which is the highest point on this race. Your work begins with the last 0.5 mile climb to the 1777 Aid Station which is at 3.1 miles.
1777 Aid Station to 1777 Aid Station (loop):

Left on R (Ramapo-Dunderberg)
Right on B (Timp-Torne)
Quick Left on R for Aid Station
The total distance of this portion is 2.2 miles. From here you will embark on a 2.2 mile loop around the Timp Trail. After grabbing a great view on top of the Timp Trail, runners face a technical descent on single track trail. After a short climb and a 0.5 mile descent, runners will reach a staircase climb back up the South side of the Timp Trail. Upon reaching the top, a nice run awaits back to the 1777 Aid Station.
1777 Aid Station to 9W Aid Station:
Turn back on the R to re-connect with B (Timp-Torne)
Left on B (Timp-Torne)
Quick descent to Aid Station

9W Aid Station to Finish:
Head back up to B to R

R around to the B (Cornell Mine)
Right on Cornell Mine
The total distance of this portion is 5.1 miles. After the 9W Aid Station, runners will face a tough 1,000 foot climb over the next two miles. A spectacular view awaits runners after this intense climb. Several years back, a forest fire across the top of Dunderberg Mountain cleared out the trees so it is possible to see in all directions. Runners rejoin the 10K course as they begin the very technical descent down the Cornell Mine trail, a section that should be approached with the utmost caution. Once down safely, the trail opens up and gradually trends downhill until near the finish where runners will face their last climb.
Total distance = 13.1 miles
10K
Start to Aid Station 1777:Head South on R (1777E)
Left on R (1777)
The total distance of this portion is 3.1 miles. The 10K starts off with rolling terrain and easy trail conditions. There is paved road and double wide jeep trail over the first 2.6 miles. As you head out to the turnaround, you will be able to see Bald Mountain on your left which is the highest point on this race. Your work begins with the last 0.5 mile climb to the 1777 Aid Station.
1777 to Finish:
Left on the R (Ramapo-Dunderberg)
Left on B (Cornell Mine)
Continue north to main site
The total distance of this section is 3.1 miles. Upon leaving 1777 Aid Station, the trail turns into single track with some shorter climbs up to Bald Mountain. The harder part of the course may actually be the descent after Bald Mountain. The trail is very steep with large rocks. Runners will descend over 600 vertical feet in less than ¼ mile. After the descent, it’s smooth sailing back to the finish.
Total distance = 6.2 miles
