Raincoats vs. Rain Jackets and What To Look For

While people often use raincoats and rain jackets to mean the same thing, there are some slight differences.  A rain jacket is typically shorter, ending above the waist and is ideal where freedom of movement or a lightweight option is needed.  Raincoats, on the other hand, tend to be longer and are more suited for heavy rain and extended periods outdoors.  Some raincoats are belted and are often referred to as trench coats.

When shopping for raincoats and rain jackets, pay attention to the following:
