The North Face and GlobalGiving Kick off Nationwide Gear Drop: 5 Tons of Gear Collected for Earthquake VictimsNational collection of tents, bags and jackets to be delivered to Kashmir earthquake victimsIn collaboration with GlobalGiving, The North Face collected over 5 tons of winter appropriate product for the Kashmir Earthquake victims. The product was donated by concerned people like you at the 10 retail store locations around the country and is now being sent to Delhi, India where The North Face athletes are picking it up and shepherding it into the hardest to reach regions of Kashmir. Leading the team of athletes is Wille Benegas, 5 time Everest Summitter, who has frequented this region often since 1993. Arriving in Delhi on Saturday (11/27), Willie is leading Patrick Kenny, a colleague of his, along with The North Face athlete team members, Renan Ozturk and Cedar Wright into the Kashmir region to survey damage, assess avalanche danger to relief camps and deliver the gear into the high alpine villages. Willie was deeply motivated to give back to the region that has supported him on so many climbs and has inspired this team to continue to explore.
