The North Face Supports Its Neighbor, Girls Inc. of San Leandro, through a BCM Trip Sponsorship

June 2003- The North Face joined its fellow VF Corporation sister company, JanSport, a long-time BCM supporter, in funding a full youth group sponsorship for Girls Inc. during the summer of 2003. Girls Inc. of Alameda County, serving over 6,000 girls annually, challenges girls ages 8-18 to explore their potential, to go to college, to build careers, and to expand their sense of what is possible in their lives. Girls Inc. joined the BCM program in 2002, but due to funding shortfalls, was unable to fund their own Big City Mountaineers trip to Yosemite National Park in 2003. Learning of this, The North Face, a neighbor in Girls Inc.’s Bay Area hometown of San Leandro, was eager to help out to ensure their participation in BCM’s program. Thanks to The North Face, who for 35 years has offered the most premier line of performance equipment, apparel, and footwear, and has designed the most technically advanced products in the industry today, Girls Inc was able to explore the backcountry of Yosemite with the adult mentors of BCM during 2003!
