The 6th Asian Winter Games attract record number of athletesThe North FaceŽ shines with the Chinese Taipei team at the quadrennial event in Changchun, ChinaThe Asian Winter Games is the largest winter sports gathering in Asia, serving as a bridge for people in Asia to promote the friendship and understanding through sports exchanges. A quadrennial sporting event, The 6th Asian Winter Games was held from January 28 to February 4, 2007 in Changchun, China. Featuring a total of 5 sports, 10 disciplines and 47 Events, including short track speed skating, speed skating, figure skating, ice-hockey, curling, cross-country skiing, Alpine skiing, biathlon, free-style skiing and snowboard, the Games attracted a record-breaking number of 816 athletes from 26 countries and regions to compete for the 141 medals. In the morning of January 28, China's President Hu Jintao was in the capital of Jilin province to declare open the continental contest of snow and ice sports in front of 10,000 spectators and several hundred athletes from across Asia gathered at the Wuhuan Gymnasium. As a keen supporter of outdoor sports, The North FaceŽ in Taiwan was the official sole sponsor of the Chinese Taipei team of athletes, sponsored The North FaceŽ gears for all Taiwan athletes as well as monetary subsidization to the team . They were proud to be a part of the Asian Winter Games and promoted winter sports to pursue the brand spirits. The Chinese Taipei team was consist of 40 players and coaching staff who competed in the biathlon, curling, skating-race and relay skating events in The North FaceŽ uniform and gears. The Chinese Taipei Asian Games team was very grateful to the support from The North FaceŽ and equally impressed with the quality of their professional gears.
